About

I help Pakistani businesses ship software that actually works in production.

I'm Muhammad Asad, a freelance software developer based in Pakistan. For the last few years I've mostly worked with small businesses and local brands — building WordPress sites, WooCommerce stores, business websites, and mobile apps. Most of my clients are in Pakistan, from Lahore down to smaller towns like Mianwali and Kacha Khuh, with a few in the UAE, the US, and the UK.

The work I care about is practical: a grocery store that can take COD and JazzCash, a clinic that books appointments online, a property dealer whose listings don't break on mobile, a food brand whose Android app actually loads on a slow network. No jargon — just things that move the business forward.

I handle the whole stack when it's useful — hosting, SSL, backups, SEO basics, and the long tail of "can you just fix this one thing?" tickets after launch. If you'd rather talk on WhatsApp than email, that's fine by me.

How I work

A short list of what I'm actually good at.

No 95% skill bars. Just what I do on paid work every week.

WordPress & WooCommerce

Custom themes, child-themes on top of Astra/GeneratePress, WooCommerce with local payment gateways (JazzCash, Easypaisa, bank transfer), and the pesky "make it fast again" speed work.

Business & brochure sites

Clinics, law firms, schools, real estate, and service businesses. Pages that rank locally, forms that don't spam, and a CMS the owner can update without calling me.

Android apps (Kotlin)

Native Android apps in Kotlin — food delivery, booking, fitness, internal business tools. Clean architecture, Firebase for auth and push, Play Store publishing. React Native when a client needs iOS too.

Integrations that matter here

JazzCash, Easypaisa, HBL & Meezan payment pages, TCS and Leopard courier APIs, WhatsApp Business for order confirmations, Google Sheets for lightweight back-office stuff.

Keeping things running

Hosting moves (cPanel, Cloudways, Hostinger), SSL and Cloudflare setup, regular backups, plugin updates, and hacked-site recovery when it's urgent.

Straightforward communication

Voice notes on WhatsApp when that's fastest. Short status updates. I quote in PKR for local clients, USD for international, and I don't disappear between milestones.

Work

2022 — Present

Independent Developer

Full-time freelance · Pakistan

Working directly with small businesses and local agencies across Pakistan on WordPress, WooCommerce, and mobile app projects. Most clients come through referrals.

2020 — 2022

Full-Stack Developer

Digital agency (Lahore)

Shipped custom WordPress themes and WooCommerce stores for local and international clients. Built and maintained a Laravel-based admin panel used by the team.

2018 — 2020

Frontend Developer

Startup (Islamabad)

Worked on a SaaS dashboard in React. Spent a lot of time making the UI work on cheap Android phones and patchy connections — probably the most useful thing I've ever learnt.

Education & certifications

2014 — 2018

BS Computer Science

Pakistan

Final year project was an e-commerce platform for small retailers — the kind of problem I still enjoy solving.

Ongoing

Open source & self-study

GitHub

I keep a few small WordPress plugins and helper scripts on GitHub. Also write occasional notes on the blog when a problem is worth sharing.
